This policy explains what information Octopus Capital Group, Inc. ("Octopus," "we," "us") collects when you use octopuscg.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website. Information we hold about debts and accounts as a collection agency is described in the section below on account information.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill in a form on this site, we collect what you enter: typically your name, company or property name, email address, phone number, and a description of the balances you're asking about. If you email, call, text, or chat with us, we keep a record of that communication.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you viewed, and the time of your visit. We use this to keep the site running and secure. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics on this site.

Fonts. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When it does, Google receives your IP address and the request for the font file. Google's privacy policy governs that data.

How we use it

• To set up and manage a client relationship, if you become a client
• To keep the site secure and diagnose technical problems
• To comply with laws that apply to us and to enforce our agreements

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How we share it

We share information only when needed to do the things above:

• With service providers who host this site, deliver email, provide chat and text messaging, and store our records, under agreements that limit what they can do with it
• With the credit bureaus (consumer reporting agencies), for rent reporting and credit reporting as described below
• With the client on whose behalf we are collecting, if your message relates to an account placed with us
• With attorneys, courts, regulators, or law enforcement when the law requires it or when necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety
• With a successor if our business is sold or merged, subject to this policy

Account information

If you are a consumer with an account placed with us, or a client who has given us account records, that information is governed by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the laws of your state, and our written agreements with clients. We use it only to collect, verify, report, and remit as those laws and agreements allow. Please don't send account numbers, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive details through the website form; call us instead.

Rent reporting and tenant sign-up

When a landlord or property manager enrolls a property in rent reporting, we receive tenant and payment information from their management software: typically the tenant’s name, address, lease and rent details, and payment history, along with the identifying details the credit bureaus require to match a report to the right person.

If you sign up for positive reporting on this site, we collect what you enter on the form: your name, email, phone, address, unit, ZIP code, landlord, and your consent. We use it to confirm your enrollment and to report your on-time rent payments.

We use this information only to report rent payment history to the credit bureaus, answer disputes, and keep the records the law requires. We share it with the credit bureaus and with the landlord or property manager for the property. We do not sell it. How long we keep it

We keep form submissions and correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you and for the period our record-keeping obligations require, then delete or anonymize them.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the information we hold is limited to the people who need it for their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you from this site, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@octopuscg.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law, and we will honor requests as that law requires. We don't respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals because the site doesn't track you across other sites.

Children

This site is for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. Continued use of the site after that means you accept the change.
